Child Safe Guarding Initiatives
At CTA, child safeguarding is at the heart of our work because every child deserves to grow, learn, and thrive in a safe environment. We value it as the foundation for building stronger communities and a brighter, more equitable future.





CTA in partnership with TEN/MET, implemented the Ending Children Gender-Based Violence (ECGBV) Project in Nanyumbu District, targeting Mangaka Secondary and Nachiura Primary in Kilimanihewa Ward. Reaching 1,600 students and more than 2500 community members and different leaders, the project aimed to eliminate gender-based violence in schools by addressing root causes and empowering stakeholders.

Key interventions included a baseline survey, capacity-building sessions for students, parents, teachers and the entire district education leaders and community and religious leaders, campaign.
The project led to:

Reduced corporal punishment in schools.

Established Endviolence school clubs

Increased child confidence in reporting abuse and in studies as reported by club members.

Greater community awareness of child protection.

Improved academic performance at Mangaka Secondary and Nachiura primary school.

District-wide scale-up of child protection efforts with TUWAMBIE KABLA HAWAJAHARIBIKA Campaign.

Increased CTA’s visibility and collaborations with diverse district stakeholders including police Gender desk.
